I guess you haven't tested the theme because even if I leave it blank, the same articles are present on the other remaining pages and section of the site.

I am not sure how u use the theme, but i do use the theme on one of my sites and conjunction with wp automatic plugin to pull youtube videos and post them to my sites and for me it works fine. Not sure what not working on your side. But i did notice as i had the old version of the theme and when i override it with the new one some of my images and other stuff got corrupted! But because i paid for the theme i have activated and all went back to normal. So at this point not sure what's up with yours...
