The www adds too much to the address. Example HTTP://www. and then the website name. I always go without the www part.
I do prefer the version without 'www' too. However, in google search console I am always getting issue about redirect because my domain without www is automatically redirected to www. so what I ended up doing is pointing both to my site and specyfying one of them as canonical.
I am curious if anyone has another solution to this problem here.

I think there is no big difference in SEO point of view, it is okay if you want to use it, but of course shorter and simpler is better.

www. is like subdomain if you want to run two different websites under same domain you can use www

if you want you can install two wordpress website like:
they look same but they are different
there is no special purpose for www its just a subdomain of main domain.
you might need to change your redirect to a 301 unless it is temp, than use a 302 redirect. This is why google giving you issuses
